I heard someone who had lived in the Middle East for twelve years ask this question –
If I had to do it all over again, would I spend my life in the Middle East, living among Arabs, trying to be a visible expression of Jesus to them?
His answer was almost immediate. The Holy Spirit spoke strongly to him, so much so that his body trembled. He heard these words – I love these people.
That’s when he realized that he loved them too. But it was not his love that drove him – it was Jesus’ love for them. This person who told the story was simply a part of the story.
In fact, when you’re asked – what is the answer to the issues in the Middle East – answer them – “Jesus.” You will be mocked as being simplistic, even by committed Christian friends.
I am only a follower of Jesus who loves Muslims.
