I am looking forward to my welcome into the SIM (Serving in Mission) family this week and my wife and I are continuing to ask ourselves – what has God released us to?
One thing for certain is that we are not released to become super missionaries – even though I have claimed a small part of Toronto for myself.
As we are focusing on Muslim ministry, we know He did not release us so that we could become formidable intellectual experts on Islamics. He definitely did not release us to become fluent Arabists.
He is releasing us as faithful servants sharing the gospel with the followers of Islam – with a special focus on Arabic, Farsi and Turkish speaking people.
We expect things to happen – opportunities and divine appointments – while we fumble our way through conversations, make cultural blunders, work through illness and before we are even ‘prepared’ for ministry.
Are you waiting until you are ‘prepared’ for ministry before you answer God’s call? Is He moving in your heart even now as a part of what He is doing among the people of the Middle East and North Africa? What will it take to move you? God can use you right where you are, now. He desires willing servants who are faithful to His call wherever they are. When He opens the door, will you go through?
